Sunderland scout Ligue 1 duo ahead of January window

Allardyce has done it with an unfancied side before Sunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern playing pool are discussing rumours that their club are looking to sign a couple of players from the French top flight.

The Sunderland Echo is reporting that Sam Allardyce has sent scouts to keep tabs on Raphael Guerreiro and Benjamin Moukandjo.

21-year-old left back Guerreiro began his career with Caen before making the move to Lorient in the summer of 2013 and since joining the club he has made 77 appearances and scored on eight occasions.

Fine form for his club has seen him called up to the Portugese national team in 2014 and to date he has made three appearances and scored one goal.

As for Moukandjo, the 27-year-old Cameroon international has been in prolific form in front of goal this season, he has made 14 appearances for Lorient since signing in the summer and has found the back of the net on 10 occasions.

Moukandjo is also a full international for Cameroon and has made 28 caps to date scoring three times.

The Sunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern are delighted that their manager is looking to strengthen and both the back and up the first-team.
