We love a good rumour here in the Football Transfer Tavern and think we have found one with the news that Liverpool are set to be snubbed by Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon accoridng to the Daily Express that is.
The player has managed to net seven goals in 33 games this season and despite having a somewhat sluggish and uncertain start to the season, the Benin international claims he is now very happy with Sunderland and is settled at the Wearside club. The player was thought to be unhappy with life at the Stadium of Light, thus prompting talk of a move elsewhere with Liverpool being an interested party.
The player himself has now claimed that all is well, noting previous problems had been resolved. Speaking before the thrashing by Aston Villa yesterday evening, he noted that: “The issue with my family is settled now. Two years ago when I arrived, sometimes my family wasn’t here, but now it is fine.
“They live here now and the problem is completely finished. Even then [last summer] though, I never gave it [leaving] a thought. I didn’t think about it and I didn’t think about what was being said about me.”
Obviously this is a blow for Brendan Rodgers but it seems that the player is happy with life at Paolo Di Canio’s side for the time being.
Is this the end of the Sessegnon to Liverpool rumours? Let us know your thoughts below.
