Sunderland stopper tips team-mate as future England regular

PantilimilonA report circulating the Transfer Tavern has Sunderland fans discussing the possibility of one of their young goalkeepers having the potential to be England’s number one shot-stopper.

An article from the Daily Star has revealed that Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon has tipped youngster Jordan Pickford to rival Joe Hart as England’s No.1 in the future.

The 21-year-old is currently out on loan to Championship side, Preston North End, but Pantilimon believes that Pickford is destined to become a Premier League star in the future.

With Pickford already performing internationally for England U21’s, it won’t be long before he is rivalling the Manchester City goalkeeper for his place in the England starting line-up. When asked about the potential of the young Black Cats stopper, Pantilimon said:

“He is the future for England and this club and I hope that he continues to do well. I have seen how well Jordan is doing and I am really happy for him. He is at a good club and learning his trade.”

“It is good for his development to be playing every week. He has been doing well. This club will need him in the future.”

Pickford signed his professional contract with Sunderland way back in 2011 and has been out gaining experience on loan ever since.
