According to The Telegraph, Sunderland and Newcastle are set to duke it out over the signing of Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan in the near future with our resident Black Cats fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping they can get one over on their old rivals.
The 24-year-old wide man has impressed for the Irish side this season and has helped them go on a famous Europa League run that sees them currently in the group stages of the competition but, unfortunately for them, that seems to have attracted the attentions of the north east pair.
The winger has scored ten goals in his last 22 appearances, a good return at any level and could be set to either help the Black Cats stave off relegation or help the Magpies win promotion to the Premier League.
The two rivals have had very contrasting campaigns so far with Sunderland having only won just once in the league, last time out against Bournemouth, whilst Newcastle are three points clear of the chasing pack in the second tier of English football.
Those factors are something Horgan will have to weigh up when it comes to deciding where he wants to play, providing both sides make a bid.
