Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left concerned by one report they’ve read today, which suggests a phenomenal price could be made for an international star.
Spanish media outlet Don Balon state Valencia are preparing to cash-in on coveted star Andre Gomes and will use super-agent Jorge Mendes to help the Portuguese international complete a move to Manchester United.
Gomes, who has attracted heavy interest from Chelsea, starred for Portugal in their opening Euro 2016 game against Iceland, a 1-1 draw, and it’s increased his global standing, as many deem the 22-year-old to be one of the best young talents in European football.
Valencia, on the back of a disappointing campaign, are prepared to cash-in on the player but want an astonishing £51.4m for the player’s services, as 25% of any fee will have to be sent back to the player’s former club, Benfica.
The Spanish side will use agent Mendes, who has close links with United as he also manages Jose Mourinho, to hopefully persuade the Red Devils to part with the large sum- but our landlord believes the Premier League giants will not accept such a staggering demand.
Manchester United fans, should you pay whatever it takes for Andre Gomes? Let us know in the comments below!
