Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed a timely boost ahead of the return of Premier League action this weekend, with reports suggesting a big-name is keen to join the club in the summer.
The Times says Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze is ready to leave German football and has set his heart on a Liverpool switch, which would see him reunite with his former boss at Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp.
23-year-old Gotze, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, has seen game-time in Munich extremely limited and although that may improve when Carlo Ancelotti take charge in the summer, it seems the international star isn’t willing to take any chances.
Whilst clubs like Arsenal and Juventus have also been linked with the talented German, Gotze wants Liverpool to be his destination and the Reds could land his signature for as little as £20m– which would be an absolute bargain.
Having shown his talent to the world, he’s the sort of signing that could spark life into an underperforming Liverpool squad ahead of a crucial season next term.
