Barcelona’s Neymar was remarkably linked with a huge transfer to Manchester United over the summer, despite only arriving in Catalonia a few years back, amid reports that the Brazilian flirted with the Premier League side.
It was considered by many to be only paper talk, with Neymar’s camp negotiating a lucrative new contract with the Spanish treble-winners, but the player’s father has confirmed that United genuinely made an approach.
Neymar Sr. told Boa Tarde Fox that they were informed of the offer, but were never interested, and such a deal has now fallen through.
“The offer reached Barcelona and the club contacted us saying they were not going to sell. They asked if we were interested, but that wasn’t the case. Barcelona are not selling, he has three years still to go on his contract.”
“It was Manchester’s deal, but that offer is not on the table now, it has fallen through.”
United regulars at the jukebox indicated they never believed a move for Neymar was possible and are shocked that their club pushed ahead with a move, despite it being almost impossible for the South American to be lured to Old Trafford.
