‘Surpassed prime Xavi’ – Man United fans on Twitter show the love for lynchpin

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s Twitter post, commemorating Scottish international, Scott McTominay, one year on from his senior debut for the club. McTominay came off the bench at The Emirates to see out the final five minutes as the Red Devils fell to a 2-0 defeat against Arsene Wenger’s side.

One year on from that substitute appearance against Arsenal and the midfielder has done great things at Old Trafford. The Scot has played in the Champions League and greatly impressed away at Sevilla in the club’s 0-0 draw. The 21-year-old has also picked up his first caps at international level, playing just under an hour as Scotland fell to a 1-0 loss against Costa Rica back in March.

Jose Mourinho has put great faith in the youngster this season and his faith has paid off, as the midfielder has shown a maturity beyond his years, putting in competent displays alongside the likes Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba in the middle of the park for the Red Devils. The future is definitely bright for McTominay who has already made 21 appearances for the senior squad at Old Trafford this season.
