Surprise contender to replace Van Gaal at Man United emerges

vangaal0Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have made no secret of their disappointment in Louis Van Gaal, with one regular not seen for months after he said he’s giving up drinking until the Dutchman is replaced.

As speculation surrounding the unpopular boss intensifies, shock reports have emerged linking a surprise candidate with the potentially vacant position at Old Trafford.

The Express claims former Valencia boss Nuno Espirito Santos is on United’s short-list to replace Van Gaal, should he be axed, which has resulted in stunned silence throughout the bar.

The 41-year-old resigned from his position at Valencia in November, with the Spanish giants struggling in the bottom-half of the La Liga table, and was replaced by United legend Gary Neville- who surprisingly earned his first managerial position.

Whilst Nuno is regarded as a decent manager, our landlord believes he’d be better off at a lesser-ranked side like Stoke or West Ham- and does not believe he has the required credentials to improve a lacklustre United side.

United fans, would you want Nuno to replace Van Gaal? Let us know in the comments below!
