It’s fairly quiet in the Football Transfer Tavern today with most football journalists apparently with their feet up already, tucking into their festive mince pies but Sky Sports journalist Francisco Acedo has arrived at the tavern with news that Swansea want to sign Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspa.
However Acedo reports that the Premier League outfit could face fierce competition from La Liga side Atletico Madrid for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Aspas had netted six times for Celta in La liga this term and it is his fine form that is believed to have attracted the attention of Atletico manager Diego Simeone as well.
His current club have already faced up to the fact that they will struggle to keep Aspas at the club saying: “It will be difficult to keep Iago at the club after the end of the season.”
The Liberty Stadium side have started the season well with summer signing Michu netting an impressive 14 goals to take the club into 11th in the Premier League with little sign of a relegation battle in the near future.
