Everyone in the Football Transfer Tavern was thoroughly impressed with Michael Laudrup’s Swansea City last season as the legendary player proved that he is also a top manager leading the Jacks to the Capital One Cup and ultimately Europa League football for the new campaign.
The talk in the tavern has turned to where the Swans need to strengthen ahead of their packed schedule and Sky Sports today suggests that Laudrup wants to bring another striker to the club this summer.
Record £12millon signing Wilfried Bony from Vitesse Arnhem has arrived at the club after having his work permit issue sorted but the Swans boss still wants to fetch another striker to the club ahead of the new season.
Speaking after Saturday’s 3-0 win at Reading, he told Sky Sports: “I think we still need another striker, another kind of striker, but apart from that I really don’t know.
“If nothing more happens, and by happens I mean if none of the regulars leave the squad, then I think maybe only one player would be enough.
“We still have 30-something days.”
Having also added Jordi Amat and Jose Canas, and extended Jonathan de Guzman’s loan from Villarreal for a second season, Laudrup wants to hold onto his key players before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.
Swansea skipper Ashley Williams has been linked with a move away from the club with Liverpool eyeing up the Welsh international but Laudrup will be desperate to keep the former Stockport defender with the club.
