Swansea City is reportedly interested in the services of Tyler Roberts – one of West Brom’s young and upcoming stars.
According to the Daily Mirror, Swansea is one of three teams who are interested in the Welsh starlet. Meanwhile, Brighton and Sunderland are the other two clubs who are allegedly interested in signing the 18-year-old striker, and so we could be in for quite the transfer battle soon enough.
Tyler Roberts has been recently called up to the Wales under-21 squad for their forthcoming fixture against Liechtenstein.
The 18-year-old is currently on loan with League One side Walsall, and he has scored three goals in six games for the Saddlers.
In addition to his current loan move, Roberts was sent out on loan twice last season, playing for both Oxford United and Shrewsbury Town. Collectively, he made 35 appearances last season scoring six goals.
It would be a move that many might not have expected, then, but Roberts will surely be eager to see the best route to first team football and if that is with Swansea he’ll likely be open to a move.
Signing quality young players is always a shrewd tactic of planning for the future. In the current market, clubs often prioritise potential and longevity as key traits in possible signings.
Swansea have signed the likes of Renato Sanches recently, too, and so Roberts might feel that they are concentrating on helping develop young players.
