Swansea City captain backs manager to continue in role

Ashley WilliamsThe reports surrounding the future of Swansea City manager Garry Monk has really divided opinion among the Swans faithful here in the Transfer Tavern, with some wanting him to be backed and other suggesting that he should walk away.

One man who thinks that the club should stick with the club legend is the club’s captain Ashley Williams, who has spoken to the BBC on the constant speculation on Monk’s future.

The consistent central defender and Wales international was asked about the pressure on his manager by the BBC and was in doubt about which direction the club should go. He said:

We back him, of course we back him. I thought about it in the week that we haven’t really come out enough and said that we back him. He knows we back him, we speak to him a lot and he is working as hard, if not harder, because he understands the situation the club is in.”

One Swansea fan is putting some classic tracks on the Tavern’s jukebox and agrees with Williams’ comments and thinks the club should give Monk at least the Christmas period to get things right.

Swansea fans… Do you want Monk to stay? Who would replace him? What do you make to Williams’ comments?
