There have been some raised voices over by the bar with Swansea fans crowding around a Sky Sports article claiming that Jonathan de Guzman is close to completing a surprise return to the club.
The midfielder left the Liberty Stadium for Napoli back in 2014 after spending two seasons at Swansea on loan from Spanish outfit Villarreal, before making a permanent switch to the Serie A side.
However, Sky sources suggest that the 28-year old could make a return to struggling Swansea with manager Alan Curtis believed to be eyeing a midfielder to replace Jonjo Shelvey, who departed the club for Newcastle this week.
De Guzman made 95 appearances and netted 16 goals during his time at the Welsh side, winning the 2013 League Cup in the process.
The Canadian-born attacking midfielder, who opted to choose Dutch nationality for his international career, has a contract with Napoli that runs until 2018, with the option for a further year.
However, our resident Swansea supporters will be delighted to hear that their club are looking to bring De Guzman back to the club following his impressive two-season stint.
Our landlord points out that Sky Sports have stated that the nature of the deal is not yet known, but Swansea fans in the Tavern will just be happy to hear that their club are looking to bring in a quality player this month.
