Swansea fans in the Tavern don’t know how to feel as several media outlets have reported that former manager Brendan Rodgers could be in line to replace under-fire boss Garry Monk.
The Northern Irishman was a firm favourite with the board and fans alike after gaining Swansea promotion to the Premier League and providing stability in the top tier.
So, perhaps it is no surprise that the 42-year old manager is being linked to the Welsh side by The Sun, with a return to the Liberty Stadium not yet having been ruled out by the club.
Nevertheless, fans in the bar taking advantage of the midweek cocktail offers aren’t convinced Rodgers has the necessary attributes to turn around their fortunes.
Having been replaced by Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool earlier in the season, Rodgers is currently without a job, and whispers around the Tavern have already linked him with roles at Newcastle, Queens Park Rangers and even Chelsea, as well as moves abroad.
Current manager Monk insisted earlier this week that he would continue to work as hard as he could ‘until I am told not to’ after Swansea were beaten 3-0 by Leicester City, leaving them just two points off the relegation zone.
It is believed that it could cost Swansea somewhere in the region of £3 million in compensation to relived Monk of his duties, since he only signed a new contract earlier this year.
Other mangers touted for the role include former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes, as well as Rangers boss Mark Warburton.
