The Swansea City fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports linking their manager with a similar role with a Premier League rival.
Wales Online is reporting that Francesco Guidolin has been linked with a move to Watford next season, and that the top brass at the Liberty Stadium have remained tight lipped on the reports.
Current Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores looks set to replaced at the end of the season and the Swansea manager is hotly tipped to take over.
Guidolin’s own future at Swansea has been the topic of conversation recently with reports suggesting the Italian could be replaced by Brendan Rodgers this summer despite leading the Welsh side to safety this season.
Speaking about Guidolin’s future, Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins said: “We are delighted how things have gone, we can’t deny that. We’re looking forward to getting to the end of the season when we will review everything and discuss options then.
“I’m sure he wants to stay. He’s settled in and obviously has had a taste of the Premier League, which is a big thing for him.
“But it’s a big decision for us going forward and we need to take our time and go through those options at the end of the season.
“It was always the case that we would review it. I think he was aware of that at the time.”
The Swansea fans in The Tavern would be disappointed to see Guidolin go as they feel he has done a fantastic job since joining the club, and think it’s only fair that the club extend his contract.
Our landlord thinks the experienced manager has been excellent during his time at the Welsh side, and thinks it would be a real coup if Watford managed to lure him to Vicarage Road.
