Swansea City set for significant takeover and possible appointment of former favourite

guidolinnnThe Swansea City fans are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening discussing reports that they could soon be set for a takeover and a new managerial appointment.

The Telegraph is reporting that the Welsh side are close to be taken over in a deal worth £140 million and the new owners want to bring Brendan Rodgers back to the club as manager.

It’s four years since Rodgers left the club for Liverpool and it is reported that the 44-year-old is open to a return to the club. following his dismissal from Liverpool in October.

The club could conclude a deal with American businessman Jason Levein and Stephen Kaplan later this week, but the deal would see current chairman Huw Jenkins remain on the board.

Both American business men have an extensive knowledge of sport, with Kaplan being a former managing director at MLS side DC United.

The Swansea City fans in The Tavern are a bit worried about the prospect of American ownership as they fear an Aston Villa type scenario, as for Rodgers although they would welcome him back they are concerned that should he be successful he will jump ship like he did when Liverpool came calling.
