There is talk in the Transfer Tavern today linking Swansea with a World Cup star, which has certainly got the supporters of the South Wales club excited.
Here in the Tavern there are a couple of devout Swans fans and one of them slaps down his Sun newspaper where it is said that a Ghanaian international could soon be on his way to the Liberty Stadium.
25-year-old Jonathan Mensah, who featured for Ghana in the 2014 World Cup, has only four months left on his contract with French side Evian and it is the Swans that are showing the greatest interest in securing his services on a free in the summer.
At this time of the season, these sorts of stories are always the talk of the Tavern with players seemingly willing to run down their contracts to come to the Premier League and this one would be a good one for the Swans.
Of course, much will depend on what level of football the Liberty Stadium will be hosting next season with the Swans just three points above the drop zone in the Premier League.
The appointment of the experienced Italian Francesco Guidolin was a signal of intent, at least, and having taken five points from his four matches in charge so far, he will be confident of securing Premier League football for another season.
If that is the case, then no doubt there will be similar stories linking players so that they can build on just escaping relegation at the end of each campaign, but for now the signing of Mensah would be a good coup with many other clubs also scouting him.
One thing in the Swans favour, as the regulars here point out, is that he was on the books of Udinese when Guidolin was in charge there. However he didnt feature after spending most of his time out on loan, but with 36 caps for his native Ghana and with nearly 50 appearances under his belt for Evian in the French Second Division, then he is surely ready for the step-up to the next level of his career.
Just where that may be will keep punters talking for the next few weeks but, for now, it is the Swansea fans that are confident they are in pole position to add to their squad at the end of this campaign.
