Swansea will be hoping for a big improvement this upcoming season, after a stop-start campaign last term saw them only just scrap Premier League survival under Paul Clement.
Manager Clement will be hoping he can add some quality to his squad before the end of the window, and there’s no doubt he needs players across all positions if the Swans are to improve on last year.
Our landlord has been enjoying some good banter with the Swans fans in the Tavern this week, and in among this banter there has been some serious chat around who the club should be looking to sign over the summer.
One player who stood out last season and was brought into the conversation is current Fulham man Tom Cairney.
The former Blackburn midfielder was sensational for the Cottagers last term, racking up goals and assists in abundance as Slavisa Jokanovic’s men just fell short in the playoffs. It was Cairney though who was the driving force behind this run to the top six, and he could well prove to have the same effect in the Premier League given the chance.
Cairney would fit in at Swansea, and his ability in the middle of the park or behind the frontman could be something of real use to Clement, especially with the club losing Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton this week.
He would no doubt cost a fair few quid in today’s market, but Swansea now have money to spend, and he would no doubt become an excellent player for them given the chance at the Liberty Stadium.
