Our Swansea City fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been buoyed by their better form recently and Fernando Llorente’s comments, as quoted by The Evening Standard, have certainly added to that.
The Swans looked destined for the drop under Francesco Guidolin and then Bob Bradley but things have certainly taken an upturn in form since Paul Clement has come in.
The club are looking to get back to their old ways of playing whilst the Spaniard Llorente has been playing well and he seems determined to help them fight against the drop.
He had been linked with a move to Chelsea but the deal did not come to pass and is now ready to knuckle down for his current club in the months ahead.
He said of the failed deal:
“I already know [Antonio] Conte from Juventus.
“But it’s difficult in the winter when there’s a way out from a side you’re playing for and it’s normal that they didn’t go ahead with the deal.
“I’m very focused on the team and am looking forward to helping save us from relegation.”
Our Swansea fans are sure glad to hear that from Llorente as on his day he can be a real powerhouse in and around the box.
He certainly showed that against Liverpool last month and our landlord thinks he will be key in the basement battle this season.
