Swoop for Champions League striker would finally rid Crystal Palace of awful Christian Benteke reliance

Crystal Palace have struggled so far in the league this season, with the Eagles appearing to be likely candidates for the drop prior to the appointment of Roy Hodgson.

Since the former England boss took over however, the South London side have been sensational, and a late comeback at fellow strugglers Southampton this week ensured Palace moved out of the relegation places. Fans at The Transfer Tavern were wary when Hodgson was appointed, but weeks into his reign at Selhurst Park, fans can now not speak highly enough of the former Fulham and Liverpool gaffer. Regulars in The Tavern and always keen to share their thoughts, our landlord caught up with Palace fans around the jukebox to talk all things Crystal Palace.

Top of the agenda was this month’s transfer window, and the changes Hodgson must make to his squad if the club are to survive in the Premier League for another season. Fans expressed a desire to see Hodgson bring in another striker given the consistent disappearance of Christian Benteke, with one fan desperate to see a move for Porto man, Moussa Marega. The Malian international has been sensational for the Portuguese giants since returning to the club from a loan spell with Vitoria Guimaraes at the start of the year, scoring an impressive twelve goals in the league.

Also impressing in European competition in the Champions League, Marega looks the real deal, and Hodgson would do well to consider swooping for the player this month. Goals are needed at the club after just twenty were scored in Palace’s opening twenty-two, and Marega could be the man to solve the problem. Get him on board, and the club will be in the Premier League next season.

Palace fans, would Marega displace Benteke should he sign this month? Let us know!
