The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating their anti-climatic title win after West Brom defied the odds to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. The week is only getting better for those City fans though, as a story in The Mirror claims that Pep Guardiola will be given a £200 million war chest to spend on a number of potential targets including Fred, Jorginho, Julian Weigl, Thomas Lemar, Riyad Mahrez and Toby Alderweireld.

This news is sure to excite the City fans. Whilst The Etihad faithful can already boast a double-winning side this campaign and one of the best teams in the country, Guardiola won’t want to let up as the teams looking up at them will be hoping they can make next season a much closer affair with some smart work in the transfer window. The Citizens propping our bar up have been speculating for months over they want to come in to bolster their side in the summer and they’ve got a pretty good idea now.
From the list of potential targets, it looks like Guardiola has got his sights set on bringing in a long-term replacement for Fernandinho in defensive-midfield. The 32-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers this season but as he approaches his mid 30’s it looks like a smart move for the City hierarchy to bring in a youngster to share the role with the Brazilian with the aim to lear off of him and eventually take his place in the coming years.

Mahrez and Jorginho please. Alderweireld is class but not sure if we need another CB and if Spurs would be willing to sell to us again.

Another CB? We already have 4. I think a LB, a DM and LW will be enough for us. Like, Bertrandt, fred, leon bailey, etc.
