Take It Like A Celeb Fan! Eamonn Holmes vs

Celebrities are people too! They’re just like you and me! They like going down the pub and having a laugh, just as much as the average nobody…sorry, member of the public! Except when you’re down the pub, you don’t get the manager to cordon off one corner so you and all your mates can sit and guzzle champagne whilst the other patrons stare at you with barely disguised jealousy. But there’s no need to be jealous, because they’re just like you and me…only famous!

Some celebrities even like football! Yeah, that’s right! You won’t be standing behind them in the queue for the gents at half -time, but they still follow the game as much as you. But which club has the best celebrity fans? Here at Football Transfer Tavern, we’re all about the hard-nosed journalism stuff, but sometimes you need to have a little filler. So, without further ado, here’s 5 derby style celebrity match-ups to see which club has the best celeb support…

Eamonn Holmes and Johnny Marr. There’s something about Eamonn Holmes that I just can’t help but like. Every morning he seems more and more annoyed with the world, and doesn’t seem to care. The Belfast born presenter is a huge Manchester United fan, and has a season ticket at Old Trafford.

His website, which has pictures of Holmes gleefully gurning away at the camera has a regular blog where Eamonn discusses what’s going on in the world of United.

Meanwhile, across the city, a charming man has become Mancunian royalty. Johnny Marr, lead guitarist with legendary band The Smith’s, was a budding footballer and at 16 had trials with Manchester City and Nottingham Forest. Marr has gone on record to say that he knew his football career was going to be short-lived when he turned up for matches wearing mascara.

WINNER – I want to say Johnny Marr, because if I don’t my credibility will take a huge hit. But for sheer passion, you can’t deny Holmes takes the match-up. Johnny may be a musical legend, but his obsession is music, not City.
