‘Take the gamble’ – West Ham fans want PL winner to partner Arnautovic next season

The West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern are well accustomed to rumours linking their side with a move for players associated with Manchester City, but one player that has hardly had a mention so far is Mario Balotelli.

Since Manuel Pellegrini took the reigns at the London Stadium West Ham have been linked with plenty of Manchester City players who currently and formerly played for the club.

Considering West Ham already have Pablo Zabaleta on their ranks and signed Joe Hart on a season long loan deal last season, it’s easy to understand why those stories have emerged.

However, despite the fact his contract with Nice is set to expire at the end of June, Mario Balotelli has hardly had a mention in the mainstream media.

The Italy international is no stranger to the Premier League and his return would certainly provoke plenty of hype after a successful two-year spell in France where he has notched 43 goals from 66 appearances in all-competitions.

A handful of West Ham supporters have discussed the merits of his potential arrival on Twitter and, although there a select few believe he represents too much of a risk, the majority are hoping their club will offer him a contract during the summer to provide Marko Arnautovic with a perfect centre-forward partner.

Although Balotelli’s previous spell in the Premier League with Liverpool was something of a disaster, the form he demonstrated while at Man City suggested he could become a prolific striker in English football if he could resolve his attitude problem.

Based on his form in France during the past two seasons, it seems that he has finally managed to mature and find his best form, which is fantastic news for the expectant Hammers faithful.

Here’s what the West Ham fans have had to say about Balotelli on Twitter…
