The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern want nothing more than to see Alexis Sanchez in a sky blue shirt this month. The Chilean’s contract at Arsenal is set to expire at the end of the season, and whilst a move is looking inevitable by the time next season comes around, there is a hope that the attacker will be able to come in and improve things this season too.
Significantly, it’s not just the fans that want this to happen, with Goal providing an update on Sanchez’s future with a news update that is sure to delight our resident Citizens.
According to Goal, both Man City and Alexis Sanchez want to secure an Etihad switch this month for the 115-cap Chilean international, though negotiations are continuing and are not yet close to completion. Significantly, though, Sanchez himself is said to be ‘confident’ that a deal will go through before February 1st comes around.
This seems to be a deal that both parties want to happen, but the desires of Arsenal are standing in the way. They obviously won’t want him to leave for below their asking price, and so like in the summer, this deal could end up going down to the wire.
A recent injury to Gabriel Jesus has no doubt expedited Man City’s desire to land Sanchez, with the Chilean able to offer the offensive firepower that could be lacking in Jesus’ absence.
Whether a move goes through, though, remains to be seen.
Man City have a lot of attacking depth, but Sanchez would make them even better.
He’d be a valued asset in their quest to land a triple crown in England, consisting of the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and the Premier League, whilst he can also still play in the Champions League.
Sanchez’s own desire could be key, as he has struggled so far this term, with his mind clearly elsewhere. Arsenal won’t want to keep him against his own will, especially if he isn’t performing, and so our landlord is expecting a deal to be reached.
