The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have high hopes for a number of the young players within the Chelsea developmental system…
After all, the Blues’ academy has been one of the most successful in England over the last few years – with a number of trophies and leagues won throughout each of Chelsea’s age groups.
However, despite the success – Chelsea’s utilisation of the loan system, which is often used as a means of progressing a player from youth level to professional level, has drawn the ire of the punters in the Transfer Tavern. Many of the fans in the pub think that the loan system devalues players and reduces their motivation to succeed – but it would appear as though one Chelsea starlet is loving life on loan.
Undoubtedly one of the most highly-rated young players in the Chelsea youth system, Lucas Piazon has spent the last few years on loan – with varying levels of success – with a current spell at Fulham proving fruitful for the Brazilian.
What’s more, it would appear as though Piazon hasn’t given up his Chelsea dream yet, revealing that he is still hoping for a chance to impress in blue.
He continued: “I came to Europe to play for Chelsea so if one day they want me there, I would be very happy”.
Piazon has been decent whilst on loan at Fulham, with 3 goals and 1 assist garnered so far – with the Brazilian really building on his overall game whilst in the Championship. Often a slight and small player, Piazon has really become a force in the midfield – and that will be vital if he wants to have any chance of succeeding in the Premier League.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern think that he will struggle to make it at Chelsea, but if he continues to perform then he could certainly have a chance. With Oscar recently leaving the Blues, there is a gap in the Chelsea squad for a player of Piazon’s quality.
