Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are optimistic for their future under Unai Emery and are excited to see who the Spaniard will bring to the club.
The former PSG boss has a huge task on his hands if he is to return Arsenal to the top of the Premier League. His hard work starts now with the summer transfer window now officially open. It’s unlikely the 46-year-old will be given a large budget to work with, he may have to sell some fringe players to generate some much-needed funds.
Firstly, the futures of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere remain unclear; both are yet to pen new deals with the club. Regardless of their renewals, Arsenal need a midfield general who can control the tempo of the game. Granit Xhaka has failed to hit the heights expected of him following his £36m move from Borussia Monchengladbach, and he needs to be replaced.
The latest reports – as per Calcio Insider – suggest Arsenal will make a £60m for Bayern Munich midfielder – Corentin Tolisso. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Frenchman became one of the most expensive transfers in Bundesliga history when he arrived from Lyon last summer. He scored ten goals and registered seven assists in his debut season, Tolisso is the midfielder Arsenal have been crying out for.
Tolisso is an excellent passer of the ball, both short and long which will be music to the ears of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Still only 24-years-old, the France international is constantly improving. He would be an astute purchase if the Gunners could lure him from the Allianz Arena.
