Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are unsure what the future holds for their youngster after the Daily Mirror revealed that AC Milan intend to keep Marco van Ginkel on loan for another season.
The Dutchman has impressed Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi but they cannot afford to bring him from Stamford Bridge permanently, which is why he is hinting towards another loan deal.
Van Ginkel, who has only made four appearances for the Blues, is still under contract at Chelsea until 2018 after he completed an move from Vitesse Arnhem for £8 million.
The 22-year-old has had limited game time this season due to a string of injuries.
His ankle injury has meant he has only made 16 appearances all season, but positively he has managed to start Milan’s last 11 Serie A games.
And Inzaghi is confident that if he can return and have a full season at the Italian giants, he could go on to make a huge impact.
“Unfortunately he is not our player,” said Inzaghi. “But he has grown a lot.
“He has played seven or eight games in a row and we are starting to see a great player.”
The Former Italian striker added: “He does really well in training.
“Chelsea have great midfielders and he is in need of playing.
“My will would be if possible to keep him because he can give us a big hand.”
