Talented player confirms Man City talks as club look to agree fresh terms

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t been able to take their eyes off their team so far this season. After a somewhat disappointing campaign last term, the Citizens have really turned things around this season, and at present, they are leading the Premier League with ease. It was always going to take Pep Guardiola some time to build his team, and with the introduction of a few young stars combined with his experienced veterans, he now has the perfect group of players from which to build.

The experienced veterans within the squad are particularly interesting to look at, as whilst Man City have continually upgraded and moved players on in recent years, a few players have continued to make the cut. David Silva is one of them, and though his contract is set to expire in 2019, and despite already being 31-year-old, it looks like Pep Guardiola is keen to keep him at the club for as long as possible.

Speaking ahead of Man City’s clash with Napoli, Silva has confirmed (via the Daily Mail) that he is in discussions over a new deal.

Silva said: “We are still talking. I hope I can sign soon because I would love to be here and play for City 10 years”.

It’s clear that Silva still has the desire to play for and win things at City, and his plans certainly don’t stop at securing his future. Rather, he wants to win more silverware with the club.

“I pray every night to win the Champions League with City. Hopefully, we can win this year”, he revealed.

Silva is a real fan favourite in the Transfer Tavern, and these quotes certainly suggest that the love is reciprocated the other way, too. He’s a club legend, and if all parties get their way, he won’t be leaving for a while yet.

Landlord’s Verdict

Though he’s now in his 30s, Silva continues to excel in the middle of the park. Pep Guardiola is managing him perfectly, and there’s no sign of him slowing down.

Provided that all parties are keen, a new deal certainly is best for business, whilst his dream to win the Champions League is also very viable provided he keeps his form up.
