Talented: The 1 Liverpool youngster that must be a first team regular next season

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for Jurgen Klopp to add some youth to the first team next season. The Reds are clearly planning for a very bright future, and bringing in a young player or two next season makes perfect sense.

Fortunately, Liverpool’s academy is filled to the brim with incredible talent, and so Jurgen Klopp has a wealth of quality to call upon should he decide to.

One player that has had intermittent involvement this season is young Ben Woodburn, but our landlord thinks that he should go to the next level next season by becoming a regular in the Reds’ first team.

A versatile option, Woodburn is able to play in several positions, which will suit Jurgen Klopp perfectly. He can play out wide, which is arguably where he is best, but he’s also more than capable through the middle. Given Liverpool’s lack of depth on the flanks, that’s useful for Klopp.

He’s got very solid pace and technique, and that makes him a real threat down the flanks, whilst his goalscoring record over the years is also pretty solid. He’s been directly involved in 8 goals in 17 youth games this season, which is a decent return.

The Welsh international has had a decent year of development, and he’s been intermittently involved in the first team squad, but next season, he must get more game time – because he’s more than good enough. He might not be a starter right away, but a rotational role will suit him, and Liverpool, perfectly.
