The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting big things from Georges-Kevin N’Koudou when he signed for the club…
Brought to the club from Marseille, the winger had become famed for his electric pace and fantastic deliveries, and Tottenham looked set to be the perfect home for him.
Mauricio Pochettino is renowned for his ability to develop young players, and N’Koudou was viewed as the perfect candidate for his tutorship. However, it hasn’t quite panned out like that.
He has struggled to make an impact in England, and nothing that the Lilywhites have done has helped. He hasn’t earned the chance to become a regular, and with good reason – his performances simply haven’t been good enough.
Now, though, it seems as though his tenure in London could be over before it has really even begun – with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Tottenham have received an official offer for him from Hellas Verona: a loan deal with an option to buy in the future.
Tottenham were always going to struggle to sell him for a decent price, given his poor form, and so a loan move does make sense.
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou’s tenure in London has been nothing short of a disaster so far. His performances have been poor, and he’s unlikely to be given much of a chance this season.
Still, at 22-years-old, he still has time to turn his career around, and it might be best for him to attempt that process away from the club.
He needs to play regularly, and he likely would do just that at Hellas Verona, whilst the prospect of a loan deal does offer an opportunity to bring him back to London.
