According to The Sun newspaper Dimitar Berbatov is set for a shock move to Newcastle United. The Geordie club look set to meet the £9.5 million pound asking price set by Manchester United.
Although Berbatov attended the victory parade by United all is not well in his camp and he is looking to make a move elsewhere. The former Tottenham ace is desperate to be the main man upfront and a move to Newcastle would certainly see him cement his position and would be the sort of quality Alan Pardew is looking for.
With the recent sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool for 35 million it would be regarded as a sensational signing as it could be argued that Berbatov is a better striker than Carroll. The Bulgarian is sometimes described as lazy although he has moments of sheer brilliance, and his goals record speaks for itself after netting 20 goals this season.
It has been reported that he is set to sign a 4 year deal at Newcastle and that club have saw off Valencia and Lyon to land this prize asset. Although if he does sign on at the north-east club it must be said what an outstanding coup this would be for Pardew and is the sort of player the Geordies want to see at their club. Alex Ferguson may not have put his trust in the striker against Barcelona but there will be many managers drooling at the mouth with the prospect of signing such a talent.
