Arsenal fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern aren’t too surprised to read the latest news coming in from the Daily Star (via Fanatik) – with the media outlet claiming that Besiktas have began talks with Arsenal regarding a move for goalkeeper David Ospina.
The deal would initially be a loan with the option of a buyout clause included in the contract, and the majority of our resident Gooners think this would be a good deal for all parties involved!
The Colombian keeper has found first-team action incredibly hard to get, ever since the north London club secured the signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea.
Our landlord here in the Tavern feels that Ospina is a really good goalkeeper, but at the age of 27, he needs to be playing consistent first-team football, so a move away from the Emirates Stadium definitely makes sense.
A couple of Gooners here in the Tavern are somewhat annoyed at this transfer news though, with them arguing that the club shouldn’t send another goalkeeper out on loan, because what would happen if Cech gets injured!?
