Liverpool supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team get back to winning ways in the Premier League with victory over Bournemouth last time out, setting them up perfectly for their trip to Arsenal on Friday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men brushed aside the Cherries 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium to move up to fourth in the table, with goals from Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino securing a comprehensive win for the Merseyside giants. And that will stand them in good stead for their visit to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal on Friday night, which is a huge game for both sides given that just a point and a place separates the Premier League heavyweights in the table.
Subsequently, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from Diario Gol (via The Daily Star), which suggests that talks have been held between Liverpool and the agent of reported target Dani Ceballos.
The 21-year-old only made the move to European champions Real Madrid during the summer but has since failed to make much of an impact on manager Zinedine Zidane, with the midfielder having played just six times in La Liga so far, and on seven occasions in other competitions.
And with just four of those 13 appearances coming from the start, it’s clear that the Spain Under-21 international is low down on the pecking order at the Bernabeu, and Klopp’s Liverpool are seeking to exploit that as reports suggest that ‘talks’ have been held between them and the player’s agent about a move in January.
However, Arsenal and Inter Milan are also thought to have been in contract with Ceballos’ representatives, so it very much remains to be seen whether the Reds can get a deal done for the 21-year-old in the New Year.
Landlord’s verdict: Dani Ceballos only made the move to Real Madrid back in July, but just 13 appearances and four starts since then suggests that he may not have much of a future in the Spanish capital.
And Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are one side seeking to end his Real nightmare by reportedly holding talks with his agent about a move in January, although Arsenal and Inter Milan have reportedly done the same.
Ultimately, it looks likely that the Spanish sensation will move in the New Year, but to whom very much remains to be seen.
