The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are loving life under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager has finally found his groove this season, and he’s beginning to make a real impact at Old Trafford. With so many top players, it was inevitable that the club were going to improve, but with Mourinho at the helm, they’ve really turned a corner this season.
Thanks to his impact, then, he has become a real fan favourite in the Transfer Tavern, and so there was a unanimous cheer when reports regarding his future emerged via ESPN. According to ESPN, Mourinho has held preliminary talks with Man Utd over the prospect of a new deal, with Ed Woodward clearly keen to ensure that his long-term future remains at Old Trafford.
There is, of course, no real rush to begin proceedings formally, with Mourinho’s contract not expiring for several years, but the simple notion of talks beginning is a big step for the club. It shows, at the very least, that there is a willingness from both sides to extend their partnership, and that can only be a good thing for Man Utd.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League, having made a very solid start to the season. After drawing with Liverpool over the weekend, Mourinho’s men have slipped behind Man CIty, but with their unrelenting pace showing no signs of slowing down, there is a lot of optimism amongst the fans in the pub.
Mourinho’s project is making real strides, and so a new deal makes sense.
Provided things don’t go drastically wrong over the next few months, like they did at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho’s job at Man Utd is certainly safe. Likewise, it’s a project that he is likely attached to and will want to see through to the end.
Therefore, it seems likely that when the time comes, an agreement will not be difficult to reach.
