Crystal Palace

Talks reportedly ongoing as Hodgson looks to improve on Crystal Palace’s Benteke

Palace fans here in the Tavern are hoping that their side will dip into the transfer window, as adding another striker is still of the essence at Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson’s side have enjoyed a rather spirited start to the New Year as it looks to have aided their survival hopes, with a top-half finish now not too far out of reach for the Eagles.

Although, with an injury in an attacking area potentially spelling trouble for Palace, they’ll be looking to add to bolster their squad in that department. As according to reports in the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are in talks over a loan deal for Inter Milan striker Eder with a view to a permanent move.

Talks are ongoing between the two clubs with the fee upon expiry of his loan deal believed to be in the region of £8 million.

For a player that established himself as one of the stars in the European Championships with Italy back in 2016, he’s struggled to find his feet at Inter in recent times after being frozen out by manager Luciano Spalletti.

And, this season the 31-year-old has looked a different player to the one many were impressed by during his time with the national side, as 18 appearances in all competitions has seen him reward the club with a dismal one goal.

Indeed, for a Palace side who’s seen Christian Benteke net only one goal this season as their lone striker, the desperation around Selhurst Park to add another to their ranks is causing for some hostile support.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Palace would have themselves a striker with a proven goalscoring record in years gone by, but if his stats this year are anything to go by then he could struggle to find his feet at Selhurst Park.

Still, a striker nonetheless that can provide competition and suitable back-up for a Christian Benteke that really needs to find his goalscoring touch.
