The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are resigned to losing Alexis Sanchez this summer…
The Chilean’s contract expires at the end of next season, and so this is the last oppurtunity for the Gunners to earn some money from his sale – provided that he doesn’t extend his current deal.
The Gunners, though, are holding firm and demanding big money for his sale – big money that PSG are reportedly willing to pay. According to Le Parisien, PSG representatives have flown to London in an effort to tie up a deal for Sanchez – who is said to be rated at €40 million (£35 million), with the French outfit reportedly keen to tie up a deal ahead of the new season.
For Arsenal, this deal could appeal for a number of reasons. The most important of these is the simple fact that PSG aren’t an English side, meaning that the move wouldn’t directly affect the Gunners’ domestic efforts. PSG are also a side that are often willing to spend big money, and so a move would likely see the French outfit get close to, at the very least, Arsenal’s price demands.
Certainly, if Sanchez is to be sold this summer, a move to PSG probably makes the most sense for the Gunners, though it remains to be seen whether it will actually come to pass.
The French side will certainly know what they’re getting with Sanchez, given that the Chilean bagged a remarkable 24 league goals last season.
