Liverpool supporters have been quite despondent in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team’s 18-match unbeaten run in all competitions come to an end with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea City on Monday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Premier League’s bottom side having not tasted defeat since the end of October, and off the back of beating runaway leaders Manchester City in their previous league outing. Yet the Reds produced a lacklustre display in South Wales and were deservedly beaten thanks to Alfie Mawson’s strike just before half time, in turn clinching a huge three points for Carlos Carvalhal’s side, at the same time denting Liverpool’s top four aspirations.
Subsequently, there have been many frustrated Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent days, yet their mood may well be improved by a recent report from Yahoo Sports, which suggests that ‘talks’ are underway in their bid to bring Brazil international Luan to Anfield in the summer.
The 24-year-old forward currently plays his trade at Brazilian top-flight side Gremio and has done so throughout his career, in which time he had bagged 36 goals and laid on 22 assists in 131 games for the club, helping them to win the Copa Libertadores last year.
And it appears that the two-time Brazil international is doing something right as reports suggest that Liverpool are interested in the 24-year-old, so much so that ‘talks’ are reportedly underway ahead of a possible move this summer.
But whether the Reds can indeed bring Luan to Anfield come the end of the campaign very much remains to be seen.
Landlord’s verdict: Liverpool supporters are unlikely to know much about Gremio forward Luan, but with two senior caps for Brazil and several goals for his club side in recent years, he could well be on his way to Anfield.
And that’s because ‘talks’ are reportedly underway ahead of a possible deal for the highly-rated 24-year-old in the summer, with manager Jurgen Klopp seemingly on the lookout for attacking reinforcements for both the present and indeed the future.
And with Luan reportedly having an €18 million release clause in his contract, it’s a deal that financially Liverpool can certainly do, but whether they do indeed get a deal done for the Brazilian remains to be seen.
