Rangers supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days following their side’s victory over Ross County on Sunday, setting them up perfectly for their Scottish Cup meeting with Fraserburgh this evening.
Graeme Murty’s men saw Aberdeen leapfrog them in the Scottish Premiership table with victory over Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon, yet the Gers reclaimed second place from Derek McInnes’ side in the Highlands on Sunday. Goals from Daniel Candeias and Jason Cummings set the visitors on their way to all three points, and although the hosts got one back through David Ngog, it wasn’t enough to deny Rangers a 14th victory of the campaign, thus giving them the ideal preparation for their Scottish Cup clash at Fraserburgh tonight.
Consequently, there have been many delighted Gers fans in the Tavern in recent times, and they are likely to be further intrigued by a recent tweet from Sunday Mail chief football writer Scott McDermott, which suggests that ‘talks’ are underway regarding a possible deadline day swoop for Swansea City youngster Oli McBurnie.
The 21-year-old striker made the move to the Liberty Stadium back in 2015 after beginning his professional career at Bradford City, and he has since gone on to appear 18 times for the first team in South Wales, 12 of which have come this term.
Yet with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Wilfried Bony nearing a return to full fitness, gametime looks set to be hard to come by for the Scotland Under-21 international, and reports from McDermott on Twitter suggest that Rangers are in ‘talks’ over a possible loan move for the forward.
I’m hearing that Rangers have been in touch with Swansea City today about taking striker Oli McBurnie on loan. Sunderland also keen but Rangers definitely interested and talks are ongoing….

But with Championship outfit Sunderland also thought to be interested, it very much remains to be seen whether Murty can land another signing before tonight’s 12am deadline.
Landlord’s verdict: Rangers manager Graeme Murty has been extremely busy overhauling his playing squad at Ibrox this month, and it doesn’t look like the former Reading defender is ready to stop just yet.
And that’s because recent reports suggest that the Gers are in ‘talks’ with Premier League side Swansea City over a possible loan move for striker Oli McBurnie, who has appeared 11 times for the Swans in the league this term, albeit only starting twice.
Sunderland are also thought to be keen, but with things seemingly heading in the right direction at Rangers, the Scottish giants may fancy their chances of landing a late deadline day swoop.
