The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been making their feelings clear on Simon Mignolet today. The Belgian goalkeeper signed for Liverpool five years ago today and the fans seem to be in agreement that’s five years too long.

Whilst there’s no doubting Mignolet has had some very impressive highs in a Liverpool shirt, the number of shockers he’s had outweigh them. The fans thought they had seen the last of Mignolet when Loris Karius was signed. However, the pair of them have put in their fair share of howlers which has led to Jurgen Klopp now looking to the transfer market to bring in a quality shot-stopper.
Today marks the five year anniversary of Mignolet signing his first contract at Anfield and whilst the ex-Sunderland man has certainly put in some strong showings, ultimately he’s failed to live up to the standards set by the man who he replaced, Pepe Reina. This summer will likely see the Belgian ‘keeper forced out of Merseyside when Klopp brings a new ‘keeper in, and the fans will be delighted to see it happen, however, it will be worth mentioning that at least Mignolet was a good servant to the club who always gave his all.

As you can see, the mood among the Reds isn’t great when Simon Mignolet’s name is mentioned and they’ll be pleased to get the Belgian off the wage bill.
