Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are feeling slightly concerned as their next match approaches, having witnessed a torrid display in their last Premier League outing.
The Magpies looked off the pace in their last Premier League outing against bottom side West Bromwich Albion, as the Baggies managed to secure all three points in what was a day to forget for Newcastle.
However, Rafa Benitez will be sure to rally his troops for today’s Premier League fixture against an out of form Watford side, as they remain on course for a top half finish after recovering from a concerning position earlier on in the current campaign.
But, it appears as if Jonjo Shelvey already has one eye on a holiday abroad after witnessing his last performance, with many of our local northerners wanting to see him kicked out of the starting lineup today. Sadly, the central midfielder wasn’t able to have an influence on last weekend’s game, as one of his main contributions was giving the ball away to the opposition.

The Englishman has struggled to break into the starting lineup in the current campaign as a summer transfer window exit looks likely.
Although, there’s no doubt that he can deliver an established performance when called upon, having been one of the main driving forces behind Newcastle United’s promotion to the Premier League.
So, having been given very few opportunities in the side so far this season, perhaps Benitez should think about giving the 23-year-old a chance to prove himself as the current campaign comes to a close.
