‘Terry at the back, Drogba in attack’ – Derby County fans on Twitter excited for the future

The Derby fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely buzzing today. Earlier this morning it was announced that Frank Lampard is the new manager at Pride Park, and now with John Terry leaving Aston Villa, the 37-year-old could be set to join up with his former teammate at the Championship club.

Whilst John  Terry is well past his best and Frank Lampard is painfully inexperienced in management, the madness of the pair could just be fantastic at Derby. The Rams have become famed for being serial bottlers, failing to make the playoffs on a number of occasions and choking in both the semi-finals and finals when they do manage to get there. However, with Terry and Lampard’s winning mentality, they could just help the club turn the corner.

Despite his age, John Terry has proven that he can still cut it in the Championship. The Champions League winner was superb for Aston Villa last season and proved a number of doubters wrong as he showed his professionalism on and off the pitch for the Villains. Our local Rams will be hoping that can be on show again this season if the star does make the move to Pride Park in what is likely going to be Terry’s final season as a player.
