The Everton fans are desperate for their side to make something of the 2017/18 season…
It’s been a poor start to the campaign for the Toffees, and whilst a lot of money was injected into the side over the summer, that investment hasn’t been reflected by results.
Still, it’s early doors and there is more than enough time to turn things around – starting with a game against Bournemouth this weekend.
Ahead of the game, Ronald Koeman has fired a warning shot, via the Daily Mail, to his players about their off-field conduct. This, of course, comes off the back of Wayne Rooney’s drink driving conviction earlier this week.
Koeman said: “I know the social part of life, the private life, about behaviour and discipline in the team and outside. It’s not more by Wayne or somebody else. It’s the whole picture”.
He added: “Focus on the football, that’s what we need”.
Wayne Rooney’s situation is clearly an uncomfortable one, but as he should, Koeman is trying his best to get his players to learn from mistakes. As he says, a focus on the football is exactly what is needed, with all the players needing to make their headlines on the pitch, rather than off it.
In truth, the Toffees could do with a few good headlines on the back pages, as they desperately need a few magic moments to turn their season around. Currently sat in 18th place, things aren’t looking good.
Ronald Koeman’s side has yet to gel, and whilst that’s understandable given how many players came in over the summer, their lack of form cannot be allowed to continue for much longer.
Everton desperately need to win against Bournemouth, and his players can have no excuse.
It seems clear that any further off the field incidents will have big consequences at Goodison Park, with Koeman demanding a focus on football, particularly in their current circumstances.
