West Ham will be looking to build on what has been a very poor 2016/17 campaign, as Slaven Bilic looks to get the Hammers up to speed and competing at the right end of the table next term.
The Hammers fans here in the Tavern are looking forward to seeing what the summer brings, with many hoping that a host of new signings can give the club the boost it needs for next year.
Our landlord thinks that they West Ham squad isn’t too far away from being able to compete in the top half of the table and beyond, and this week he has dropped in the thought of the Hammers making a move for Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The versatile England man – valued at £17m by Transfermarkt – is at a bit of a crossroads with his career in terms of his next move, and he could well be open to a switch to guarantee himself some first team football going into next years World Cup.
Chamberlain will be desperate to get a run of games behind him and put certain injury woes to the back of his mind, and a move to West Ham could prove the making of him.
His ability to operate across numerous positions makes him an excellent buy, and exactly the sort of player the Hammers should be looking to sign if they want to improve.
