The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were pretty keen on seeing the back of Pedro last summer, with the Spaniard failing to impress since moving to London from Barcelona…
Under Antonio Conte, however, the Spaniard has really found his form. Forming an excellent partnership with Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, at this point, Pedro is absolutely undroppable.
That makes it all the more important, then, that the Blues hold on to the Spaniard this summer at all costs.
Indeed, Chelsea have come a long way in 12 months, given that Pedro looked almost certain to make a move away last summer following a poor start to life in London – with Willian shining in his place.
This year, however, in lieu of Willian’s poor form, Pedro has really come to the foreground. Offering electric pace down the flanks, a real goal threat and a defensive engine to match – he is arguably as important as Eden Hazard under Conte.
Indeed, his goal against Everton over the weekend proved that he is as good as anyone – and whilst he still isn’t mentioned amongst the more high profile members of the Chelsea first team, our landlord thinks that it is time that he starts to be.
Rated at £21.25 million by TransferMarkt, Pedro will continue to be a vital part of proceedings at Stamford Bridge as the season comes to a close, and whilst a few months ago a move away seemed to make sense – the Blues should now look to ensure that Pedro’s long-term future remains at Stamford Bridge.
