Liverpool have just turned plenty of heads in the world of football after choosing to splash over £70m on Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk, and it’s safe to say our landlord her at the Tavern did not see that one coming just days before January.
It might seem a big outlay, but the Reds need defenders to supplement and go alongside their stunning attacking play, and the signing of Van Dijk might well turn out to be a master stroke.
However, our landlord thinks one might not be enough, and he believes the club need to go out and add a couple of more players before they can really consider themselves genuine contenders for the Premier League title.
One such player who is making his mark this season is Inter Milan centre half Milan Skiniar, who has been putting in impressive performances on a weekly basis for the Nerazzuri, notching up 18 appearances already and chipping in with an impressive three goals too.
While Van Dijk offers Liverpool something of a stop gap, the addition of Skiniar alongside him could give the Reds a solid foundation for success for years to come. At just 22, the Slovakian has plenty of time to hone his craft further and develop into one of the game’s finest defenders, and playing alongside Van Dijk will only help him.
A must have for Jurgen Klopp if he wants to win trophies at Anfield, Skiniar represents the ideal sort of summer signing for Liverpool.
