There’s no doubt that with all the millions spent by Roberto Mancini that City have got to win something this season. I’m not even sure an FA Cup would be considered good enough by the clubs owners. For all the money spent I would think they are expecting a Premiership trophy come the end of May. So here are the twenty five…..
Shay Given, Joe Hart, Stuart Taylor, Jerome Boateng, Wayne Bridge, Aleksander Kolarov, Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Shaleum Logan, Micah Richards, Kolo Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Gareth Barry, Nigel de Jong, Adam Johnson, Michael Johnson, James Milner, David Silva, Yaya Toure, Patrick Vieira, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Emmanuel Adebayor, Jo, Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez.
I’d say on paper it’s the best squad in the league. They’ve world class players in David Silva and Carlos Tevez. Joe Hart looks to be getting better and better, anyone who saw his performance in City’s 3-0 win over Liverpool will know that last season was no fluke for the England international. Adam Johnson has definitely got the ability to be a top class winger.
Mario Balotelli (doesn’t need to be registered as he’s under twenty one) could be one of the stars of the season should his attitude be right.
Jerome Boateng and Aleksander Kolarov are both superb modern day full backs, and if they can settle in quickly they could be a real nightmare for any opposition.
Even if City has an injury crisis they can bring in the likes of Shay Given, Wayne Bridge, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Emmanuel Adebayor.
If Mancini can get his team to gel quick enough and keep everybody happy then City have to be considered title challengers. Keeping that many ‘stars’ content may be a very tricky job though.
