The £40m-rated central defender who could well solve Man United’s problems

Manchester United are desperate for new defenders, that much is obvious at the moment.

Their Premier League campaign is being blighted by mistakes at the back as well as off field issues between manager, players, and board, and all this means the next few transfer windows are going to be huge for the Red Devils.

Signing a top class central defender is going to be the number on priority for United, and after missing out on Harry Maguire in the summer, Jose Mourinho will be desperate to land some of his top targets as he seeks to improve his squad.

We here at the Tavern have been trying to have a think who the club should buy, and one man who we think would be a superb addition is Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah.

The 22-year-old, already valued at a mammoth £40m by Transfermarkt, has emerged as one of the stars of the Bundesliga in recent times, and is already making an impression at international level too.

Tah might not be the most household of names on the market, but he fits the mould of what United need, in the fact he is a ready made centre back who is young enough to improve vastly.

The German is bound to get a move eventually if he maintains his form, and a switch to United might well make perfect sense to the club and player at this moment in time.

United fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
