What to do with Gareth Bale, in light of today’s renewed rumours of Barca and Real’s £50 million interest?
You may be thinking hasn’t this all been said before? Yes. Yes it has. But things are slightly changing at the Lane at the moment. Before many, including me, had focused on keep the team together. Keep Harry in charge, keep everything the same and build on it.
But as performances have declined, and form has dropped, there is more and more reason to think about making changes. I wasn’t anticipating any changes this big, but £50 million can make you rethink things pretty quickly.
But there is still one big reason not to sell. Do we need the money? Of course everyone would want that kind of money to play with, but do we really need it? After all Spurs had apparently been promised £30 million anyway in the summer, and there may be more if Modric were to leave.
Bale’s performances haven’t been strong over the last few weeks, but stick with him. We can’t throw away our best players every time their form dips for a few weeks.
If we do need to sell then sell Modric, Bale still has more to give.
