Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been in a relaxed mood all summer so far, settling in at the bar to watch some World Cup action in confidence that their club can make some more big money additions this summer.
Pep Guardiola’s men romped to success last season, and Champions League glory will surely be the next thing on the Spaniard’s agenda as he looks to cement a legacy within the club and pack the City trophy cabinet to the rafters before he even thinks about departing.
It is though, getting harder and harder for the club to bring in names of high enough calibre who can immediately affect the first team squad.
However, one player our landlord thinks could come into the squad and replace the outgoing Yaya Toure, is Spanish midfielder Koke, currently a lynchpin of the Atletico Madrid team.
Valued at a massive £63m by Transfermarkt, the influential midfielder has been a standout player for Los Rojos Blancos over the past few seasons, and he will be hoping to impress this summer on the world stage.
Tenacious in the middle but still classy on the ball, Koke knocked in six goals last season and set up a further seven, and he would certainly add something to the middle of the park at the Etihad.
While Atletico will be pained to see him leave, the chance of working with Pep Guardiola will be a big draw for Koke if a bid is made, and he is one of a few players in world football who can come in and have an immediate impact on proceedings at the Manchester club.
City fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
